All Illegal Sanctions Against Iran Must Be Lifted: Lavrov

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced that all illegal sanctions against Iran must be lifted. This was reported by the IRNA news agency.

Speaking about Iran-Russia relations, Lavrov emphasized that both countries are paying special attention to the rapid development of business relations, adding, “We are trying to sign a new agreement between the two countries.”

Lavrov stated that he discussed scenarios for resolving crises in Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, and the Caucasus with Amir Abdollahian.

Referring to the negotiations on lifting anti-Iranian sanctions and extending the agreement on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he underscored, “Russia and Iran agree that there is no alternative to the JCPOA. We demand the extension of the UN resolution regarding Iran's nuclear deal, and the world is waiting for the US to return to its obligations.”

The Russian senior diplomat, in his speech, noted that his country demands the immediate conclusion of Iran’s accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, adding, “We have strong relations with China, they are on the right track, and we support China's global security initiative.”

It is noteworthy that Iran's Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian is on an official visit to Moscow.
