Who pulled the Speaker of Parliament's tongue to make such a statement, then went to train and broke his arm: Manukyan

All the verbal games that have been voiced by the Armenian authorities over the past three years regarding compromises, agreements, and dialogue with Azerbaijan have misled our own people. This was stated by Gegham Manukyan, a member of the ‘Armenia’ faction, in a conversation with reporters.

“Azerbaijan becomes increasingly unbridled every day, as there is no appropriate response. When Azerbaijan sees that it only stands opposite the leadership of Artsakh, with military operations and advancements, which interfere with agricultural activities, it will try to exert moral and psychological pressure,” said the MP.

Manukyan noted that during these days, the Armenian authorities should have been in daily communication with Russia. “There should have been daily communications, not playing games. Armenia had the legitimacy to completely refrain from raising the Rome Statute. Reckless actions have negative consequences for our entire people. Who pulled the Speaker of Parliament's tongue to make a statement on such issues and then go train in the Kond summer house, only to fall while training and break an arm? Not realizing the value of every word is collapsing our security system,” mentioned the opposition MP Gegham Manukyan.

It is noteworthy that in response to a journalist's question about whether the International Criminal Court at The Hague issues an international arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin, the RA Constitutional Court will consider this issue regarding the Rome Statute if it is ratified and if the Russian president attends a meeting of the EAEU or CSTO in Armenia, what actions our political leadership will take. Alen Simonyan replied that this should first come to the National Assembly, and the Constitutional Court must make a decision.

“I cannot practically imagine what actions the country should take, but I believe that a legal and political assessment is much weightier than specific actions... Let it be ratified for now; I will not comment on Kikos's death; I cannot visualize its implementation. This is a much more political, perhaps historical assessment,” he added.

Earlier, it was reported that the RA Constitutional Court published a decision regarding the compliance of the obligations enshrined in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which was signed on July 17, 1998, with the Constitution. The Supreme Court decided that the Rome Statute complies with the Constitution of the RA. The issue was discussed in writing. The decision is final and comes into force upon publication.
