VIDEO: 'People have started taking advantage of the situation' - Avinyan on construction waste in Korea Gorge

Regarding the dumping of construction waste in Korea Gorge, we had written a letter to the police, and there was a quick response, but now I am receiving notifications again that this process continues and has not completely stopped. This was stated today, on March 27, during a consultation at the Yerevan City Hall by Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan.

Municipal advisor Kamo Areyan also noted, 'During this time, the public order protection service has worked best, while the participation and efforts of GASK in this area have been quite lacking. The construction permits specify where the developer should relocate the construction waste. However, due to poor control in this regard, the developers did not acquire the necessary vigilance.'

'Last week, I personally visited those waste sites, and the leaders of the administrative districts have considerably weakened their oversight work, allowing people to take advantage of the situation,' he added. 'As for the waste management operations in the Silikian neighborhood, everything is organized, all conditions have been created. Our patrol service responds to all our notifications, coming and providing support. We have the right to impose penalties on developers according to the administrative code. It is very sad that some of the violators are large-scale developers.'
