Approximately 80,000 Protesters Gathered in Front of Israeli Government
According to the Israeli police, around 80,000 demonstrators have gathered in Jerusalem near the Knesset (Israeli government building) to protest against judicial reforms.
Earlier, due to a strike, flights were suspended at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. Following this, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced intentions to suspend the judicial reforms.
For several months now, protests have been ongoing in Israel against Netanyahu's government's proposed judicial reforms, which aim to limit the powers of the Supreme Court and grant the executive branch control over the selection of judges. The opposition believes that this reform undermines the democratic foundations of the state.
