"Ukraine is, in general, a part of Russia" - Medvedev

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, believes that Ukraine is part of Russia. According to him, for geopolitical reasons, the citizens of Russia and Ukraine have been forced to reconcile with "these fictitious borders." This information is reported by kommersant.ru.

"Ukraine is, in general, a part of Russia, let’s speak frankly — it is a part of Russia. But due to geopolitical considerations and the historical context, we have come to terms with the fact that we have been living for a long time in different apartments. We must take this into account — these fictitious borders," he said.

According to Dmitry Medvedev, the territories of modern Russia and Ukraine have always been part of the Russian Empire and were populated by original Russian residents. "This was the whole Russian Empire, this is understandable, except for certain territories that we acquired as a result of World War II; these territories were also inhabited by Russian residents and have narrowly always been part of Russia," Medvedev added.
