Azerbaijan Demolishing Houses Owned by Armenians in Talish and Constructing Homes for Azerbaijanis: Pashinyan
The leadership of Azerbaijan demonstrates its model of guaranteeing the rights and security of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenian population and 'integration', said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He recalled the speech of the Azerbaijani leader in Talish, which is difficult to describe in any way other than aggressive. According to the Prime Minister, what occurred in Talish is fundamental evidence of ethnic cleansing and genocide being carried out by Azerbaijan. Therefore, what has long been warned about is now a reality.
“Azerbaijan is demolishing houses owned by Armenians in Talish and building houses for Azerbaijanis in their place, simultaneously erasing inscriptions from ancient Armenian monuments and considering the issue resolved. These actions are illegal and contradict point 7 of the 2020 trilateral statement, which states that internally displaced persons will return to the territories of Nagorno-Karabakh under the supervision of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees,” said Pashinyan.
Pashinyan recalled that these actions by Azerbaijan prompted statements from those displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas, demanding the countries that signed the trilateral statement and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees ensure the safe return of displaced persons to their historical lands.
According to the Prime Minister, this demand is justified and the Armenian government must take all measures to protect the rights of the authors and stakeholders of the statement.
