The United States Offers Assistance to Armenia and Azerbaijan
During his recent phone conversations with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken offered Washington's assistance in peace discussions. This was reported by Armenpress, citing the words of Vedant Patel, the deputy spokesperson for the U.S. State Department.
During a press briefing with journalists, Patel emphasized that the United States remains committed to this issue.
“Clearly, this is being done through Secretary Blinken’s commitment, when Ambassador Rikard was leading this portfolio, and now through Lou Bono’s work,” Patel said.
In response to the question of whether Antony Blinken raised human rights issues in Azerbaijan during his conversation with Ilham Aliyev, Patel noted that he could not provide details about diplomatic communications.
“However, certainly, we regularly raise human rights issues (during communications) with our partners, including those in the South Caucasus,” the diplomat remarked.
