The Hour of Accountability Has Come and Will Come: Arshakyan
In the National Assembly, discussions are underway regarding the question of appealing to the Constitutional Court to terminate the authority of CC judge Seda Safariyan.
After the speech of Kristine Vardanyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction, who announced that the time for the "Civil Contract" faction to respond has come, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan made an extraordinary speech.
"Yes, the hour of accountability will come and has come," announced Arshakyan. He noted that the opposition is targeting two directions. The first is attributing properties acquired through loans to public officials as assets worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
"Who does not know that in the modern banking system, without having $100,000, one can acquire property that does not belong to them, but has 10% of a down payment of $100 or $200 thousand and a stable income? To bring this and present it as if the official has acquired a $100,000 property, I believe is detached from reality, it is absurd," said Arshakyan.
According to the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, the opposition is attempting to draw parallels with “looting officials” who have enriched themselves at the expense of the Armenian state budget for years and have acquired properties and other assets worth tens of millions of dollars.
"The second thing that is happening is the targeting of the judicial system, where numerous cases related to the illegal confiscation of properties are being investigated. I leave the conclusions to our compatriots. Yes, the hour will come, and yes, all the looted properties will be returned,” emphasized Arshakyan.
