Major Accident on Ashtarak Highway: Passenger and Freight Vehicles Collide

On March 22, at 16:18, the National Crisis Management Center received a call reporting a traffic accident on the Ashtarak Highway. Smoke was visible from a vehicle, and there was a citizen trapped inside, requiring the assistance of rescuers. This information was provided by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

Two emergency response teams from the Fire and Rescue Department of the City of Yerevan and a rescue team from the special operations center of the rescue forces administration were dispatched to the scene.

It was determined that a collision occurred between a “Mercedes-Benz” and a “Howo” truck (driver: V.M., born in 1989) on the Davtashen-Ashtarak highway, resulting in the driver of the “Mercedes-Benz” being trapped. No signs of a fire were found.

Before the arrival of rescuers, the passenger of the “Mercedes-Benz” was extracted from the vehicle by local forces and taken to an ambulance. Rescuers secured the area, freed the driver from the vehicle, and also transported him to the ambulance. The injured individuals were hospitalized at Armenia Medical Center.
