Iran Considers Armenia of Paramount Importance, Says Deputy Foreign Minister
One of the priorities of Iran's foreign policy is the development of relations with its neighbors, in which Armenia holds a paramount significance for Iran.
This was stated by Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, in a briefing with reporters in Yerevan.
"I am in Armenia at the invitation of my Armenian counterpart as part of consultations, and yesterday and today we have had productive discussions with my Armenian colleague, as well as the Armenian Foreign Minister. During these meetings, Iran's stable position in establishing lasting peace in the region was emphasized. We also underscored that Iran has always been a reliable partner in establishing peace and security," said the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister.
He added that the countries of the region are the guarantors of peace and stability, and the presence of foreign forces cannot ensure that stability and peace, as they pursue different agendas.
A question was posed to the Iranian Foreign Minister regarding Azerbaijan's closure of the Lachin Corridor, the occupation of a part of Armenia's sovereign territory, and the circulation of false narratives like 'Western Azerbaijan' and 'Southern Azerbaijan.'
"God created diplomats to achieve stability through peaceful dialogue. I assume that the leaders of the regional countries are wise enough to choose the path of dialogue for resolving issues. And Iran will utilize all its capacity and potential to provide solutions to matters and problems through peaceful discussions," Ali Bagheri Kani responded.
