Armenia Not Negotiating Azerbaijani Checkpoint in Lachin Corridor: Mirzoyan

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has provided details on the negotiation process for a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to Mirzoyan, there is a process regarding the peace treaty on one side, and increasingly aggressive rhetoric and actions from Azerbaijan on the other. He noted, “Recently, both the propaganda of anti-Armenian sentiment and direct threats have intensified. You remember that the President of Azerbaijan stated that there will be no peace treaty, and that they will not live peacefully in the 29 thousand square kilometers of Armenia unless all of Azerbaijan's conditions are fully accepted. This ultimatum stance and rhetoric are present, and at the same time, negotiations on the peace treaty continue. We have again received Azerbaijani proposals and are working on them; our responses and proposals will be provided in the coming days.”

According to Mirzoyan, this aggressive stance does not contribute to the peace process but creates obstacles instead. The Minister reminded that negotiations regarding the regime of the Lachin corridor were concluded long ago, with the arrangements included in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. Mirzoyan also added that Armenia is not negotiating about establishing an Azerbaijani checkpoint in the Lachin corridor.
