Turkey 'Punishes' Russia to Avoid Confrontation with the EU
Turkey has halted the transit of goods under Western sanctions to Russia.
This was reported by Reuters, referencing the head of the Istanbul Association of Exporters of Non-ferrous and Ferrous Metals, Chetin Tekchilioglu.
According to him, the Turkish government has provided companies with a list of banned foreign goods and instructed them not to send these products to Russia starting March 1.
Tekchilioglu noted that considering the 'serious warnings' from Western countries, this move is an opportunity to avoid confrontation with the EU.
It is worth mentioning that within the framework of the Customs Union, EU countries account for half of Turkey's exports.
