VIDEO: "There is no provision of the trilateral statement that Baku has not violated" - Mirzoyan

During a meeting in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Azerbaijan intends to carry out ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Mirzoyan emphasized that the situation in the South Caucasus is exacerbated by the aggressive rhetoric of Azerbaijan, which manifests itself at the highest levels, as well as by the ongoing military provocations from the Azerbaijani side not only against Nagorno-Karabakh but also against the sovereign territory of Armenia.

"By blocking the Lachin corridor, Azerbaijan is violating the commitments made by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia in their trilateral statements. The disruptions in the supply of energy resources to Nagorno-Karabakh leave no questions about Baku's goals; it is about implementing ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh," said Mirzoyan.

He added that amid this backdrop, the imperative of implementing the agreements reached and unblocking the Lachin corridor while strictly adhering to the provisions of the November 9 trilateral statement is further highlighted.

Mirzoyan also mentioned the decision of the International Court of Justice, which obligates Azerbaijan to ensure the free movement of people, vehicles, and cargo through the Lachin corridor.

The Armenian Foreign Minister regretted that there is practically no point in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, that Azerbaijan has not violated. Ararat Mirzoyan noted Azerbaijan's periodic violations of the ceasefire regime, the occupation of Armenian territories, the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, the unlawful detention of Armenian prisoners of war, hindering the opening of regional communications, as well as creating international mechanisms for the return of Armenian refugees to the settlements that came under Azerbaijani control as a result of the 44-day war.

"The Azerbaijani side sabotages efforts to establish long-term peace and stability in the region with its provocations. In this context, I want to emphasize the need for active steps by Armenia's allies and partners to ensure that Azerbaijan fulfills its obligations and ceases acts of violence or threats of force," stated Ararat Mirzoyan.
