Video: Protesters Storm Indian High Commission in London, Tear Down National Flag; New Delhi Protests to UK

India has lodged a protest with the United Kingdom after a group of protesters stormed the Indian High Commission in London on March 19, tearing down the national flag from the building. This was reported by TASS agency.

According to a statement from India's Ministry of External Affairs, on the evening of March 19, a senior British diplomat was summoned to the Indian foreign ministry, where a "strong protest" was made against the actions of "separatist and extremist elements."

"A demand was presented to explain the complete absence of British security services, which allowed these elements to invade the embassy building. In this regard, the essential obligations of the United Kingdom government under the Vienna Convention were highlighted. India considers the British government's indifference towards the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel in the UK unacceptable," the statement from India's foreign ministry said.

The ministry noted that India expects London to take immediate steps to identify, arrest, and prosecute anyone involved in the incident, as well as to implement strict measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

The action against India's diplomatic mission in London was organized by supporters of the creation of an independent Sikh state, Khalistan, in the Punjab region of India, where the majority of the population follows Sikhism.

Anti-India rhetoric from some members of the Sikh community in the UK began after Indian police intensified actions against the pro-Khalistani group 'Waris Punjab De' and its leader Amritpal Singh.

According to NDTV, dozens of supporters of this group were arrested over the past weekend, and Singh is said to be in hiding.
