Russia Agrees to Extend Grain Deal for 60 Days Instead of 120, Says Russian Foreign Ministry

Russia has agreed to extend the grain deal for an additional 60 days. This was reported by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, to RIA Novosti. She added that partners were informed not only verbally but also through official channels.

“We see reports from both sides about the grain deal being extended for 120 days. Both the Foreign Ministry and our representatives at the UN have repeatedly stated that the Russian side has notified all parties to the agreement that it is extending the deal for 60 days,” Zakharova said.

The agreements regarding grain exports from Ukraine were signed on July 22, 2022, in Istanbul for 120 days and were extended for the same amount of time in November. One of the agreements regulates the procedure for exporting grain from the ports of Odesa, Chernomorsk, and Yuzhny, which are under Kyiv's control.

Additionally, memorandums were signed between Russia and the UN, which imply that the global organization will cancel restrictions on the export of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products to global markets. Moscow emphasizes that the second part of the agreement is not being fulfilled.
