Biden Considers Hague's Decision to Issue Arrest Warrant for Putin Justified
U.S. President Joe Biden stated that he considers the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin to be justified. He remarked, “I believe it is justified. But the question is that it is not recognized by us at the international level. However, I think it is a very strong position.”
Earlier, the ICC issued international arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia's Commissioner for Children's Rights, citing their involvement in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
Moscow has responded to the court's decision. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov and Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and that the warrants hold no legal significance for Russia.
