Video: Academic Town to be Established by 2030 - Future Education Development Plans

The number of state universities will reach 8 by 2030. This was announced today at a session of the Armenian government by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, presenting the action plan stemming from the law on approving the "State Program for the Development of Education in the Republic of Armenia until 2030."

“We are talking about state-funded universities. Their number must be increased to 8, and a strong scientific-research component must be mandatory. An academic town will be created as a modern infrastructure for quality education and the advancement of science. It is anticipated that as a result of the actions taken in this direction, at least 4 of our universities will be included in the top 500 international ranking systems,” the minister stated.

The number of major school complexes is also planned to increase to 156 by 2030. All students in elementary school will have the opportunity to benefit from the school nutrition program.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reminded that a significant component of the strategy is also the certification process for teachers at all educational levels, from kindergartens and groups to colleges and universities.

At the end of the discussion, the government approved the action plan for the development of education until 2030. It should be noted that the program will be implemented with a budget support loan of $100 million from the World Bank.
