No Sharp Increase in Measles Cases, Contacts Being Localized Says Avanesyan
There is no sharp increase in the number of people infected with measles, and efforts are being made to localize and limit the circle of contacts. Anahit Avanesyan, the Minister of Health of Armenia, stated this during a conversation with Sputnik Armenia regarding the statistics of recorded measles cases in the country.
The Minister reported that alongside the activation of measles cases, an increase in vaccinations is being observed. “This is very important, and I greatly appreciate that citizens are quite vigilant, and even adults are seeking vaccinations,” said the Minister.
Currently, according to the Minister, there are a few individual cases that are primary carriers of the infection and are under surveillance. At the same time, the Ministry of Health is implementing preventive measures related to the epidemic situation, periodically adjusting its tactics.
When asked whether the Ministry has identified which country the infection has been brought from, the Minister noted that there are outbreaks of measles in several countries in the region (27 countries according to WHO). Avanesyan said that they have the results of the research, but she does not find it necessary to single out any particular country.
