Body of Soldier Found with Fatal Gunshot Wound; NSS and Investigative Committee Investigate Incident

It was reported a short time ago that according to a press release, a border guard committed suicide in the community of Vorotan. It was noted that the person who committed suicide was from Abovyan, where the border guard was buried yesterday.

Auroranews.am contacted the press department of the NSS, where they confirmed the news of the border guard's death, stating that the incident occurred on Saturday, March 11.

The spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan, provided details about the incident. Specifically, on March 11, the body of compulsory military serviceman A. Gevorgyan was found at the permanent station of one of the border guard posts, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Ninth Garrison Investigative Division of the RA Investigative Committee based on the characteristics of Article 522, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. Active investigative and procedural actions continue in order to clarify the circumstances of the event. An examination of the crime scene has been carried out, necessary documents have been requested and received, and operational investigative measures have been instructed to the investigation body. A number of examinations have been ordered, and numerous individuals, including military personnel, have been questioned.
