Changes in Belarus Threatening Death Penalty for State Treason to Take Effect in Days

On November 9, 2020, it was announced that the guarantor of the security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh is the Russian Federation. This statement was made today by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference, responding to a question from a journalist regarding whether Armenia will continue to be the guarantor of the security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh in the event of a possible new escalation.

“Why did I sign the trilateral statement on November 9, 2020? For a very simple reason that I perceived: under the created circumstances, Armenia cannot be a full guarantor of the security of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he stated.

Pashinyan emphasized that after the 44-day war, a system needed to be established to guarantee the security of Nagorno-Karabakh. “According to the trilateral statement and the subsequent decision made by the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, the President of Russia is allowed to send troops to Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said.

According to Pashinyan, this confirms that the guarantor of security in Nagorno-Karabakh is the Russian Federation. “Not that Armenia is refusing this, but unfortunately, following the defeat in the 44-day war, Armenia is unable to perform this function fully,” he noted.
