Video: Footage of Rescue of 3-Year-Old Held Hostage by Father in Russia
Footage has emerged showing the rescue of a 3-year-old child held hostage by his father in Nizhnevartovsk, Russia. The man threatened to kill both himself and the child, and he also opened fire on pedestrians from the balcony, according to the Telegram channel Shot.
The man has been arrested and faces potential life imprisonment.
As previously reported, in Nizhnevartovsk, the man had barricaded himself inside his apartment and threatened to kill himself and his 3-year-old son. Witnesses reported that he fired shots at people walking outside.
According to Russian Telegram channels, he claimed that the entrance to the apartment was rigged with explosives. The man demanded a meeting with the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Bastrykin. The mayor of Nizhnevartovsk was also present at the scene.
Attempts were made to negotiate with the man by his wife and mother, but these efforts proved futile.
Later, it was revealed that the man who took the child hostage had previously worked at the Nizhnevartovsk city administration.
