Case of Anthrax Registered in Turkey; Businesses Under Quarantine

A case of anthrax has been registered in Turkey. Sputnik Armenia reports that the first case of infection with the SAT-2 strain of anthrax was identified as a result of fieldwork. Currently, 8 businesses located in the infection zone are under quarantine. On March 8, the World Organization for Animal Health was informed about the situation.

It is reported that this strain of anthrax has not previously been encountered in Turkey, yet authorities assure that they possess the necessary vaccine. The Ministry has indicated that measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the disease. Additionally, studies are being conducted regarding vaccinations for all large livestock.
