VIDEO: We Want You to Ensure Our Peace – Protest in Stepanakert
A number of residents of Artsakh are staging a protest near the main entrance of the Russian peacekeepers' headquarters. The protesters are demanding that the peacekeepers fully fulfill their obligations.
According to the residents of Artsakh, this initiative is not against the Russian peacekeepers, but rather a call for them to meet their responsibilities. “We want you to ensure our peace; if you cannot, find a way to resolve the issue. We are going to tell the Russians to fulfill their duties; if you can’t, then say so,” stated protest organizer David Ghahramanyan.
It should be noted that on the morning of March 5, an Azerbaijani military sabotage group targeted and opened fire on a vehicle transporting the shift of the passport and visa department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. As a result of the enemy's actions, Lieutenant Colonel Armen Mayorii Babayan, Major Davit Valeri Danelyan, and Lieutenant Ararat Telmani Gasparyan were killed. Lieutenant Davit Ashoti Hovsepyan sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. The injured officer is in the intensive care unit, and his condition is stable but serious, with slight positive dynamics.
Furthermore, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, announced at an expanded meeting of the Security Council that a meeting with the Azerbaijani side was held on March 1, led by Security Council Secretary Samvel Shahramanyan. “During the second meeting, the Azerbaijani representative attempted to discuss political issues using the term integration, but Mr. Shahramanyan halted this, stating that if political matters were to be discussed, it should be the recognition of Artsakh's independence by Azerbaijan. He added that they are not authorized to discuss such matters at this meeting,” said Araik Harutyunyan.
According to the country's leader, subsequently, the Azerbaijani side conveyed through its channels that they either accept the integration policy or no solutions to the existing problems will be found; rather, there will be harsher and more decisive actions.
