VIDEO: I consider Russia to be our best ally. What do others offer us? Serzh Sargsyan

After the presentation of the book "On the Negotiation Front," former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan expressed his opinion during a conversation with journalists, stating that the criticism directed at Russian peacekeepers is more or less talk.

At the same time, he noted that he is also not encouraged by the statements of certain Russian officials and considers it unacceptable to equate the terrorist and the target of terrorism, calling for calm from both parties.

Sargsyan emphasized that during the recent Azerbaijani terrorist actions in Nagorno-Karabakh, it was the Russian Ministry of Defense that made a targeted statement, whereas the European Union's special representative merely referred to it as a "bloody incident."

"I have never been, and will never be, pro-Russian. I consider Russia to be our best ally. What do those who want to come to this region offer us? And those who promote such ideas, do they have any agreements in place? Is NATO coming here, to place a military base, will any European country have a contingent in Karabakh?" Sargsyan stated.

The third president of Armenia also emphasized that allied relations should not be one-sided assistance, and Armenia should not let its hands down, only expecting help.

"We need to understand that international politics has very harsh, cruel aspects. When they see that a person does not understand anything from there, they immediately swallow him. Yes, Russia has been and is still our ally, and do you see such allied relations from our side?" Sargsyan asked.
