The Situation Can Be Rectified, But the Negotiator Must Change: Serzh Sargsyan
The negotiator must change; success is impossible when the counterpart has publicly compared themselves to a dirty rag and a drunken clown. This was stated by the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, during a conversation with journalists.
“We have not negotiated with the Azerbaijanis; we have negotiated with mediators because we have nothing to discuss with the Azerbaijanis. They want everything to be theirs and even more than that. And how should the mediators treat a person who flies here, then there, sometimes to Prague, sometimes to Moscow? This is not a policy of compensation; it is a change of opinion under pressure,” said the third president.
He noted that he is unaware of what the current authorities are negotiating. “I can say that they will not succeed in implementing the ideas they are at least currently attempting to realize,” he added.
According to Serzh Sargsyan, the situation will be incredibly difficult for whoever replaces the current negotiator, but it is possible to rectify the situation.
