Woman Accused of Terrorism in Istanbul Faces Over 3000 Years in Prison

A woman accused of orchestrating a terrorist attack in Istanbul last November faces more than 3000 years in prison, reports gazeta.ru, citing the Anadolu Agency.

The 13th Criminal Court of Istanbul has scheduled the first hearings of the case for May 9-10-11, in which a total of 36 people have been charged, including the woman implicated in the attack, Ahlam al-Bashir.

Earlier, Turkish police arrested an additional eight individuals on suspicion of involvement in the November 13 terrorist attack on Istiklal Street in Istanbul.

The defendants are believed to have supported terrorists and provided them shelter. It is known that two of the arrested assisted Syrian national Ahlam al-Bashir in illegally crossing into Turkey from Syria.

An explosion occurred on November 13 in the pedestrian Istiklal Street, one of the central areas of Istanbul. The Turkish Ministry of Justice has stated that it was a terrorist act. The explosion resulted in the deaths of six people and injured over 80 others.
