One of the Creators of Sputnik V Vaccine Murdered in Moscow

Andrey Botikov, a 48-year-old virologist who was involved in the creation of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, has been murdered in Moscow. This was reported by TASS.

The incident occurred on March 2 at a house on Rogov Street. According to investigative sources, Botikov was attacked by a 29-year-old man. A conflict arose between them, during which the suspect attempted to strangle the scientist with a belt.

Emergency medical responders arrived and tried to save the virologist, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the source, the suspect has already been arrested and questioned, and a criminal case has been initiated against him on the charges of murder.

Botikov, along with 17 other scientists from the N.F. Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, created the "Gam-COVID-Vac" vaccine, known as Sputnik V.
