Three Individuals in Serious Condition Following Tragic Bus Accident in Syunik: Details
The Ministry of Emergency Situations' rescue service has reported new information regarding the tragic incident that occurred today in Syunik. It was noted that on March 10 at 14:20, the Syunik regional crisis management center received information that there had been a traffic accident on the Kapan-Norashenk highway, where a bus overturned and fell into a gorge; rescue assistance was needed.
A team from the Ministry's regional rescue administration and a firefighting unit were dispatched to the site. It was discovered that at the 16th kilometer of the Kapan-Norashenk highway, a PAZ model bus transporting students and staff from the Okhtar village high school veered off the road and fell approximately 5 meters into the Ajanan River.
Rescuers brought seven of the injured closer to the ambulances. In total, 24 individuals were injured, including the bus driver (L.G., born in 1948), nine school staff members (A.A., born in 1983; E.A., born in 1957; M.H., born in 1993; A.K., born in 1994; Z.H., born in 1986; A.P., born in 1987; L.S., born in 1976; M.S., born in 2002; T.D., born in 1970) and 14 students (A.G., born in 2007; S.G., born in 2008; A.B., born in 2010; D.Ch., born in 2010; S.H., born in 2011; R.P., born in 2011; G.H., born in 2013; M.A., born in 2014; A.G., born in 2014; M.Ch., born in 2014; Sh.Q., born in 2015; M.Z., born in 2011; D.P., born in 2009; and T.G., born in 2009), all hospitalized at Kapan Medical Center, where the death of teacher T.D. was recorded, while student M.Z. was released after receiving appropriate treatment.
The health condition of the students was assessed as satisfactory, while three adults were reported to be in serious condition, with the others in satisfactory condition. Rescuers cut off the bus's power supply and shut off the gas cylinder valve. With the help of specialized equipment, the bus was retrieved from the river.
