VIDEO. "Let's Sit Down Crookedly and Talk Straight". Alen Simonyan on Moscow's Actions
Russia has a role in the discussions regarding the peace treaty, but the "twitches and nervous reactions" from Moscow on this issue are unnecessary. This was stated today by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, during a conversation with journalists.
“When some other party wants to do something, Moscow's response becomes much more emotional than it should be from such a major political entity. They should be a bit calmer and more restrained; they must understand the situation and recognize that Armenia has its own interests and security issues that need to be ensured regardless of any geopolitical fluctuations, without anyone's wishes or envy,” remarked Alen Simonyan.
The Speaker of the National Assembly called for a "crooked sit down and talk straight" as Russia is the guarantor of Armenia's territorial integrity and the Russian military base is located there, and our agreements were aimed at that.
“Where are you? Why aren’t you participating more actively? I have said that if you cannot, you should voice it, and perhaps in that case we can sit together and find solutions,” noted Alen Simonyan.
He added that if Russia can resolve the issue in another way, then Armenia would fully support that.
