Surens Papikyan Visits the Country's Southwest Border Zone

On February 28, Armenian Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan visited the country’s southwest border zone. According to reports from the Ministry of Defense, Minister Papikyan toured the position, monitored the organization of combat duties, and spoke with the observation personnel.

The commanders of the military unit and the battalion reported the situation in the border zone to the defense minister. The command presented to the head of the defense agency the extensive engineering works carried out at the frontline, the construction of combat positions, and the implementation of new infrastructure, stating that these processes will continue.

Suren Papikyan inquired about the combat readiness of the personnel, living conditions, and the supplies of ammunition and food, and listened to reports on the ongoing efforts to maintain safety regulations.

At a combat outpost, around a tea table, Minister Papikyan listened to the contract soldiers and discussed the expected benefits from the upcoming evaluations. He urged the standing personnel to use the two weeks following their shifts to enhance their physical training, improve their firing skills, and increase their professional knowledge, which would allow them to receive high evaluations for more effectively organizing their future service.

During his visit, Suren Papikyan also monitored the construction works on the roads leading to combat positions. On the way back from the combat outposts, the defense minister also met with the residents of the Angevakot community.
