Former Banker and Kadyrov's Ex-Advisor Chuvilinin Dies in 'Strange Circumstances' in Moscow

In Moscow, former banker Petr Chuvilinin has died in a private medical clinic, described as a key witness in the case of Colonel Zakharchenko. This was reported to RBC by a source close to Chuvilinin.

On February 27, the Cheka-OGPU telegram channel announced that Chuvilinin had died under 'strange circumstances.' According to RBC's interlocutor, the former banker was treated at a private clinic. 'He had been ill for a long time; he developed sepsis,' said the source.

Chuvilinin was the former vice president of Incredbank and co-owner of Capital Trade Bank (STB), as well as a former advisor to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. In 2014, he faced charges of fraud. Investigators alleged that he and two other defendants in the case promised to resolve a conflict between the European Express Bank and the Central Bank of Russia for five million dollars.

In 2016, Chuvilinin was sentenced to four years in prison. Following the conviction, he became a key witness in the case against former Interior Ministry Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko.
