Cooperation Among CSTO Member States' Military Enterprises Must Be Enhanced, Says CSTO Secretary General

Cooperation among the military-industrial complex enterprises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states needs to be developed. This was stated by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov during a meeting with Dmitry Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

His remarks were conveyed to TASS on Tuesday by CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov.

“Practical measures must be implemented to establish multilateral cooperation for the joint development and production of weapons and military equipment, and the creation of maintenance and repair service centers for them among the military-industrial complex enterprises of CSTO member states,” Zainetdinov quoted Tasmagambetov as saying.

According to the CSTO Secretary General, the current global situation demonstrates the need to coordinate the potential of these enterprises.

Participants of the meeting noted that one of the most demanded areas within the CSTO is military-economic cooperation. The CSTO Secretary General emphasized that around 30% of the more than 60 intergovernmental documents within the organization relate to military-technical cooperation, Zainetdinov added.

The CSTO Secretary General also informed Manturov about the preparation for the 21st session of the Intergovernmental Commission on military-economic cooperation of the organization, which will take place in April 2023 in Dushanbe.

The parties discussed the holding of the Interpolitech International Collective Security Forum’s congress and exhibition event in 2024. The Security Council meeting took place on November 23, 2022. The Chief CSTO Secretary emphasized the importance of the Russian side’s active participation in its preparation and organization,” Zainetdinov concluded.
