Two Earthquakes in Two Hours Near the China-Kyrgyzstan Border

Today, at 5:58 AM Astana time (3:58 AM Yerevan time), a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck near the China-Kyrgyzstan border. This was reported by the seismic experimental and methodological expedition group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.

The epicenter of the earthquake is located 278 kilometers southeast of Almaty, on the border between Kyrgyzstan and China. The energy index of the earthquake is 12.1, the magnitude is 5.6, and the focal depth is 10 kilometers, according to the agency's announcement.

Based on the data from seismologists, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 was recorded in the same area two hours earlier, at 3:42 AM Astana time (1:42 AM Yerevan time), which was felt in Almaty with an intensity of about 2 on the scale. There have been no reports of destruction or casualties following the underground tremors.
