7.3 Magnitude Earthquake in Tajikistan Felt in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 has been recorded in Tajikistan, near the border of China's northwestern Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, as reported by the China Seismological Center.
The underground tremors were noted at 8:37 AM local time (4:37 AM Yerevan time). According to the seismological center, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers and about 82 kilometers from the border with China.
The Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that tremors with a strength of two to three on the Richter scale were also felt in Almaty. Meanwhile, in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, tremors measured between three and four on the Richter scale were recorded.
No information has yet been reported regarding casualties or destruction among the population.
