US Deploys B-52 Strategic Bombers Group in Europe
A group of four B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers from the US arrived on Friday at the Morón Air Base in Spain, according to the US Air Forces in Europe Command.
The nuclear bombers from the 5th Bomb Wing in Minot, North Dakota, have been deployed in Europe to “collaborate and strengthen relationships between NATO allies and partners,” the report states.
Prior to their arrival at Morón Air Base in Spain, two B-52 strategic bombers flew over Estonia following a transatlantic flight, as part of the country’s Independence Day celebrations. The flight took place at low altitude over the National Day parade at Tallinn's Freedom Square.
“The missions of the bomber task force are routine operations carried out worldwide to demonstrate the US commitment to collective defense, as well as integration with allies and partners,” emphasized the command.
It is also noted that US strategic bombers in Europe will participate in joint drills and operations with allies and partners in the region.
