One Declaration to Be Filled for Transporting Various Loads by Vehicle. Lines at Customs Checkpoints to Disappear

The government made a decision during its meeting on February 23, aimed at facilitating trade and reducing customs clearance times.

According to the chairman of the State Revenue Committee, Rustam Badasyan, this project addresses the issue of crossing speed: “Currently, vehicles are transported across checkpoints using transit declarations, and there are situations where a single truck contains loads for 10-15-20 recipients, and a separate transit declaration must be filled out for each, which can take 5-15 minutes. This change will allow for one transit declaration to be filled for all. If filling out 10 declarations could take up to 2 hours, this process will now take 20-25 minutes.”

Badasyan noted that the congestion at checkpoints has increased: “In 2022, we handled 240,000 declarations compared to 158,000 in 2021.”

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan added, “Theoretically, there can be 20 people’s cargo in one truck, which means that a declaration must be filled out for each of the 20 people, each taking 15 minutes. Now there is an opportunity for a single declaration to be filled for all these loads, for which an electronic space will be opened, allowing other owners to fill it out electronically.”
