One Ambulance Brigade Serves Ijevan Community and Nearby 18 Villages
Ijevan community, with a population of 47,000, is served by a single ambulance brigade, which is insufficient. Journalist Voskanyan Sargsyan noted this on his Facebook page.
"According to the criteria established by the government, the formation of medical emergency ambulance brigades is carried out on the principle of one brigade per 20,000 residents. The Tavush regional center, the city of Ijevan, has a population of over 20,000. The Ijevan community includes the city of the same name and 18 villages, totaling 47,000 residents. There is one ambulance brigade operating at the Ijevan Medical Center, which is not adequate. There have been cases when patients or their relatives call the ambulance service, but at that time, the Ijevan Medical Center's ambulance is serving another patient. In such cases, residents transport the patient to the Ijevan Medical Center using their own vehicles or taxis.
There is no shortage of ambulances at the Ijevan Medical Center; it is only necessary to staff the center with additional medical personnel for emergency services. MP Garnik Danielyan from the 'Armenia' parliamentary group, a resident of Ijevan, has raised the issue of increasing the number of ambulance brigades in the Ijevan community.
