Armenian Church Collapses in Turkey: No Longer Usable
A powerful earthquake in the Samandağ district of Turkey caused damage to the Armenian St. Mary Church, although there were no casualties, reports ermenihaber.am.
The village mayor, Perj Kartun, stated that the church was closed for services following the first earthquake. “It can be said that the church has completely collapsed as a result of the last earthquake. At this moment, it is no longer usable. We cannot enter or perform a service. It has sustained significant damage both externally and internally,” he said.
Meanwhile, former community leader Karpis Kush noted that while the situation is dire, it is widespread. The only good news is that there are no human losses.
