Khachaturov Has Not Received Food or Necessary Medications Since Arrest, Lawyer Says
The case of Grigori Khachaturov, former commander of the 3rd Army Corps and Major General, is linked to the charges brought against Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the "Armenia" faction. This information was confirmed by Khachaturov's lawyer, Hakob Yenokyan, during a conversation with reporters.
"Khachaturov was arrested as a suspect around 20:10. Essentially, it is connected to Ohanyan's case, but the cases have been merged. The accusation pertains to 'money laundering'; however, it has no relation to the incident associated with Ohanyan in the National Assembly, meaning that Khachaturov is not involved in property alienation. In Khachaturov's case, acquiring one of those properties has been viewed as 'money laundering'," stated the lawyer.
He also indicated that the discussion pertains to events that occurred 14 years ago, while the statute of limitations for this particular case is 15 years. The lawyer assured that Khachaturov has no connection to that property.
"Grigori Khachaturov has been in detention since 20:00. There are specific medications he needs to take, but it was not possible to deliver them, nor any food, meaning he has received neither food nor necessary medications. I called the office of the Human Rights Defender, but there has been no significant response," the lawyer added.
It should be noted that yesterday, the news of Khachaturov's arrest became public. The Anti-Corruption Court is currently examining the issue of his detention.
