Video: You Will See Me More Often Soon, Vanetsyan Says

During a press conference dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Karabakh movement, Arthur Vanetsyan, leader of the "Homeland" party, spoke about his decision to suspend activities in Parliament. He stated, "I believe that the Parliament is no longer the tool through which I can effectively fight against this government and serve our country. During this time, we have focused on party building and meeting with people. Yes, perhaps we have not engaged in public activities, but that does not hinder our social and political efforts in any way. You will see me and my colleagues more often at various events and platforms in the near future."

Vanetsyan also addressed the potential consequences of opening the Armenian-Turkish border, adding, "There is a notion in the public that if the Turkish border were to open, we would live better. I want to ask everyone if the security system of the Republic of Armenia is currently prepared to have an open border with Turkey, and whether the economy of Armenia is ready for an open border with Turkey. In the 21st century, having closed borders is unacceptable, but Armenia must prepare for this and only then take that step. Let me remind you that Armenia has never closed the border with Turkey; it is Turkey that unilaterally closed the border with Armenia. If they want to open it, then we should not be the ones to ask. If they want to open it, let them open it, and then we will talk about it," said Arthur Vanetsyan.
