Turkey Will Not Join Sanctions Against Russia, Çavuşoğlu

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated in a press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Ankara will not join unilateral sanctions against Russia. This was reported by Ria.ru.

The Foreign Minister indicated that Turkey will not become a place to circumvent U.S. and EU sanctions against Russia. “We will not join unilateral sanctions against Russia, but we are committed to UN sanctions. However, we are also taking measures and monitoring the situation to ensure that the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and the European Union are not circumvented through Turkey,” Çavuşoğlu emphasized.

Earlier, Turkey's presidential spokesperson İbrahim Kalın had stated that sanctions against Russia would mainly impact Ankara itself. The Russian Federation has repeatedly asserted that the country will overcome the pressure from sanctions that the West has been applying for several years.
