Kyiv Will Fight for Bakhmut, but Not at Any Cost: Zelensky

Kyiv will fight for Bakhmut, but not at any cost. This was stated by Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The President emphasized that it is crucial for the country to defend the city but that it should not come at the expense of excessive resources.

“It is important for us to defend it, but not at any cost that everyone dies. We will fight with reason. Meanwhile, the Russians want to advance to Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, towards the boundaries of Donbas and Dnipro, if they can. We are resisting, and in the meantime, we are preparing for the next counteroffensive,” Zelensky told Italian journalists (as quoted by Corriere della Sera).

Earlier, the head of the presidential office Andriy Yermak stated that Ukrainian soldiers “do not plan to leave” Bakhmut.

Fighting for Bakhmut has been ongoing since the summer of 2022, and Zelensky pointed out that the situation in the area is very severe.
