European Union Begins Civil Mission Operations in Armenia Today

The European Union has initiated its civil mission operations in Armenia today, February 20. The mission aims to contribute to the stabilization of the situation with Azerbaijan. This was stated in the EU Council's announcement.

"The EU is starting its civil mission in Armenia within the framework of the common security and defense policy," the document noted.

Earlier, it was reported that around 100 observers from EU countries will arrive in Armenia today, including 8 officers from the French gendarmerie (who are under the dual subordination of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense) and 15 German police officers. They will be stationed in the areas of Armenia bordering Azerbaijan. This will be the EU's second and larger monitoring mission.
