Classes to Resume in Some Educational Institutions of Artsakh
Classes will resume in gas-heated schools for grades 1-8 in Artsakh starting from February 20, according to the Artsakh information headquarters.
It was previously reported that from February 7, the classes in several educational institutions heating with gas were temporarily halted due to the disruption of gas supply from Armenia to Artsakh by Azerbaijan.
“Starting February 20, the educational process will resume for preschool groups and grades 1-8 in gas-heated public schools, extracurricular (music and art schools, children's creative centers), as well as initial (vocational) and secondary vocational educational institutions,” the announcement stated.
It is important to remind that on the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijani individuals in civilian clothing blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway, which connects Artsakh to Armenia, under the guise of environmental concerns at the Shushi-Karin Tak intersection.
Since December 13, the Azerbaijani side has intermittently shut off the gas supply to Artsakh.
As of January 9, the electricity supply from Armenia to Artsakh has also been disconnected from Azerbaijani-controlled territories. The Azerbaijani side has not allowed specialists to approach and understand the reasons, impeding emergency recovery work if necessary. In Artsakh, electricity supply is conducted through rotational blackouts.
The Lachin corridor remains closed.
