Turkish Rescue Workers Find $2 Million in Rubble

Turkish rescue workers have discovered approximately $2 million in the rubble of Gaziantep, one of the cities hardest hit by recent earthquakes. Emergency services have handed over the money to the local police, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

The cash was unearthed when rescuers located the body of a man in the ruins of the Ayşe-Mehmet Polat residential complex. “Next to the man was a total of $2 million; the money was handed over to special operations forces. Our teams prioritize saving lives, but valuable items are also turned over to the police; this is not a unique case,” stated Gafer Yılmaz, head of the city's fire department.
