Latvia to Donate Cars Seized from Drunk Drivers to Ukraine

On February 16, the Latvian parliament passed amendments to the law on supporting the civilian population of Ukraine in the final reading, allowing the state to donate vehicles, including cars seized from drunk drivers, free of charge to Ukraine. This was reported by European Pravda.

“Currently, we can either sell vehicles seized from drunk drivers, send them for recycling, or convert them into spare parts, but we see that under the current circumstances, they would provide useful support to the Ukrainian people,” quoted Delfi news platform the words of Raimonds Bergmanis, the chairman of the Defense, Internal Affairs, and Corruption Prevention Committee.

The process of transferring the vehicles is planned to be organized through an organization that cooperates with the Ukrainian government and has received specific requests for assistance.
