Azerbaijanis Massively Banned from Entering Dubai
In recent days, hundreds of Azerbaijani citizens have faced an unprecedented phenomenon; the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, referring to its country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and migration service, has refused to issue entry visas to Azerbaijanis. This is reported by Azerbaijani media.
Moreover, many citizens of Azerbaijan have suddenly found themselves on the UAE's immigration service's 'black list', receiving a lifetime ban from entering the Emirates.
According to Azerbaijani news outlets, an Azerbaijani citizen and businessman, Hayam Ilham oglu Safarli, was detained at Dubai Airport last night. Just minutes before his arrest, Safarli posted on his Instagram account: "Why are Azerbaijani citizens being deported from Dubai? What is happening?"
It has been noted that Safarli was arrested without reason, and his work visa was revoked. Reports indicate similar measures are being taken against other Azerbaijani citizens working in the UAE.
The Azerbaijani Embassy in the UAE has informed Azeri Daily that the diplomatic mission has sent a relevant note to the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the incident involving Safarli.
Many leaders of tourist companies in Azerbaijan are closely monitoring the current situation, emphasizing that this is the first time such a visa crisis has arisen in the relations between the two countries. "Typically, the embassy issues visas within a few hours. Now all of our citizens’ names have been included in the 'black list'. We do not understand what is happening," said one of the leaders in Azerbaijan's tourism sector.
