Widespread Misinformation About Search and Rescue Teams in Turkey: Cavusoglu

On February 15, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Dino Konakovic. During a press conference, Cavusoglu addressed the search and rescue teams that arrived in Turkey and the humanitarian aid provided by various countries and organizations, stating that widespread misinformation is being circulated on social media. He noted that ugly remarks are being made against the rescuers.

“This is not right. Unfortunately, a substantial part of those spreading misinformation are our media and our users,” Cavusoglu stated. He also emphasized that rescuers from other countries have come amicably to help. Naturally, there may have been shortcomings in coordination at the beginning, but everything has been rectified in a short time.

“Some have completed their missions and are returning. We thank each and every one of them individually,” concluded the Turkish Foreign Minister.
