Iran Seeks to Acquire Land in Armenia
The Islamic Republic of Iran has applied to the Armenian government for permission to acquire land in Armenia. This information was disclosed in a draft decision adopted during today's meeting of the Armenian government.
According to the proposal, Iran intends to purchase a residential house located at 35/23 H. Acharian Street in the Avan administrative district of Yerevan, owned by Armenian citizen Lilit Levoni Khachatryan, to serve as the residence for the Iranian ambassador in Armenia.
In accordance with Article 63.1, Part 1 of the Armenian Land Code, foreign states and international organizations may purchase, lease, or use land for diplomatic and representative purposes from any owner, only upon a decision by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
