We Are Ready to Transfer Equipment and Tanks for Eight Combat Brigades to Ukraine: Lloyd Austin
The United States Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, stated that allies are committed to transferring more than "eight combat brigades" worth of armored vehicles and tanks to Ukraine. According to a UNIAN correspondent, he made this remark following a press briefing after a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein-9) in Brussels.
Austin emphasized that the meeting confirmed that allies will support Ukraine in defending itself against Russia in the long term. He mentioned that members of the contact group have provided Ukrainian soldiers with more than "eight combat brigades" of armored vehicles.
According to Austin, the equipment includes American vehicles such as the Bradley, Stryker, M1 Abrams tanks, British Challenger 2 tanks, Canadian Senator armored vehicles, German Leopard tanks, as well as refurbished Soviet T-72 tanks. He also confirmed that Italy and France are preparing to transfer air defense systems to Ukraine.
